SURVIVORS FIND HOPE AND HEALING
New Web Site for Survivors of Ritual Abuse Focuses on a Holistic Approach to Healing
San Mateo, CA – January 23, 2008 Although controversy continues about ritual abuse and, in particular, the prevalence of satanic ritual abuse, there is no doubt that significant numbers of clinicians and social workers around the world have heard believable accounts of ritual abuse from survivors. News stories surface periodically about communities that engage in ritual abuse, such as happened in Waco, Texas; Heavensgate, California; Jonestown; as well as ongoing stories about victims of clergy abuse and, recently, the story of a young suicide who was a former member of The Family International. StrengthToHeal.com is a new web site dedicated to helping survivors of ritual abuse heal from the trauma of their experiences, find hope in the future, and learn to lead normal lives. It is the first web site to provide holistic support for achieving this. It offers healing therapies and tools for survivors of ritual abuse, provides clinicians' perspectives on working with survivors, and stories to support the caregivers helping survivors.
“My goal is to provide hope, inspiration and encouragement to the survivor community, to explain the process of healing, and to help clinicians gain a better understanding of the therapeutic tools used in working with ritual abuse survivors,” says Kim Kubal, founder of StrengthToHeal.com.
According to Lynette Danylchuk, Ph.D., “Kim Kubal's web site is a beautiful resource for people recovering from abuse, their therapists and caregivers. It is warm, kind, and hopeful, giving survivors practical tools along with the reality that it is possible to heal from abuse, and go on to find some happiness and peace in life.” Dr. Danylchuk, a psychologist with many years of experience working with ritual abuse survivors, has been a hospital chaplain, a therapist at a Vietnam Veterans Outreach Center, and has worked intensely in the treatment of severe physical, sexual, and emotional trauma
( www.starfound.org ).
Kim Kubal is herself a ritual abuse survivor. “I am a survivor of three satanic cults, sexual, emotional, physical and spiritual abuse and have been in therapy and recovery close to twenty years. I am now at a point in my recovery to give back to the community with my activism, web site and forthcoming book.”
Linda MacDonald, MEd, BN, RN, and Jeanne Sarson, MEd, BScN, RN, ( www.ritualabusetorture.org ) are health care professionals and human rights activists who have given testimony on ritual abuse and its prevalence numerous times to the UN. They say, “As human rights defenders for persons who have endured ritual abuse-torture, we have had 14 years of experience in speaking about such a crime. We endorse Kim Kubal's web site as an important contribution to the educational support for persons working so valiantly to heal from such atrocities. As we have a web site ourselves we know how important such a resource can be as a healing tool and commend Kim for the empowerment framework she offers.”
Due to the skepticism of mainstream communities about the existence of ritual abuse and especially satanic ritual abuse, survivors find it difficult to get help in breaking away from abusive communities, healing the trauma from their experiences, and gaining normality in their lives. StrengthToHeal.com is there to help them find the resources and support they need.
